MANUFACTURING INDUSTRY
SKILLS ALLIANCE

The Manufacturing Industry Skills Alliance (Manufacturing Alliance) is an industry owned and led organisation committed to developing an empowered manufacturing workforce that drives the Australian economy.

ÌýAs the Jobs and Skills Council for the manufacturing sector, we want to ensure that the manufacturing industry can access workers with the skills needed to shape an innovative future made right here in Australia.

We work with government bodies, unions, employers and training providers to find solutions to the skills and workforce challenges industry faces.

ÌýThe Manufacturing Alliance is based in Melbourne with a team operating throughout Australia.

JOBS AND SKILLS COUNCILS

The federal government established Jobs and Skills Councils (JSCs) to provide industry with a stronger voice to ensure Australia’s vocational education and training (VET) sector delivers better outcomes for learners and employers.Ìý

They bring together employers, unions and governments in a tripartite arrangement to find solutions to skills and workforce challenges.Ìý

JSCs identify skills and workforce needs for their sectors, map career pathways across education sectors, develop contemporary VET training products, support collaboration between industry and training providers to improve training and assessment practice, and act as a source of intelligence on issues affecting their industries.Ìý

JSCs work closely with Jobs and Skills Australia, drawing on its workforce analysis and projections to plan for their industry sector and creating a consistent approach to addressing skill gaps.Ìý

STRATEGIC INDUSTRY TASKFORCE

The Strategic Industry Taskforce (SIT) provides expertise and a strong industry voice to guide the workforce planning and project activities of the Manufacturing Alliance.Ìý

Its role is to support the work of the Manufacturing Alliance, drawing on intelligence and insights across the industry, to inform and provide advice to management and the Manufacturing Alliance Board of Directors.Ìý It also oversees the work of the four standing committees and our key deliverables, as well as considering and identifying overarching priorities and issues for discussion with government and other stakeholders.ÌýÌý

All Taskforce members hold executive level positions and possess expertise and insight into the pivotal drivers, challenges and issues within their industry sector.Ìý
